A blue car has been parked outside the hall since Tuesday.
It is not a local vehicle. The registration is not one anybody recognises, and enquiries at the shop, the pier and both ends of the terrace have produced nothing.
It has not moved. Rain on Wednesday and Thursday has settled on it in a manner consistent with not moving.
Established facts
It is blue, or grey depending on the light and who you ask. There is a folded map on the passenger seat and a jacket in the back. There is no permit, though there is no permit scheme.
The doors are locked. This was established by Mr Fenwick, who says he was checking whether anyone was in it, and who was seen by four people.
“I am not exercised about it. I have said that to several people now. I would simply like to know, in the ordinary way that a person likes to know things.”

The car belongs to the relief vet, who is covering the practice for a fortnight and has been staying at the cottage.
She parked at the hall on Tuesday because the cottage track was soft after the rain and she did not wish to churn it up, which several residents have since described as considerate and one has described as “exactly the right thing to have done”.
She has been in the village four days. Nobody had met her because she has been out at farms from seven in the morning.
She is very pleasant. She will be here another week.
